An interesting email is going viral, especially after the Easter Sunday massacre in Sri Lanka by a group of ‘educated’ Islamic terrorists, some of whom hailed from upper middle-class backgrounds. Religious Islamic fanatics quite successfully managed to perish hundreds of innocent peoples’ lives and injure equal numbers by detonating suicide bombs in Christian Churches and Star Hotels, while killing themselves instantaneously with their explosions.
The well experienced Sri Lankan Army and the STF, did yeoman service, from the time of bomb explosions, by arresting several members of the ‘Pro-ISIS terrorist groups – National Thowheed Jama’ath (NTJ) and the Jamaithul Millathu Ibrahim (JMI) – both of which are going to be proscribed in Sri Lanka according to Government sources. With that comes the requirement of banning of Burqa and Niqab, too. In such an unexpected disaster there is a need for every citizen of Sri Lanka to say a ‘big thank you’ to major hospitals, for discharging their duties in a noble manner with clinical precision.
Up to the time of compiling this article, over one hundred members of the terrorists and suspected supporters, who had links with the two terrorist groups, were arrested. The numbers of ‘suspects’ taken for questioning are on the increase, on an hourly basis, due to the diligent action on the part of the Army and STF, which goes to show how organised and efficient our security forces are.
The most spectacular exercise was the arrest of the wife and the infant child of the organiser of Thowheed Jamma’ath association, Mohamed Zarin, from a house at Nindavur in Sammanthurai. This goes to show the amount of hatred that had been implanted by the mentally deranged senior terrorists in converting innocent human beings to become fanatics.
Possible repetition
If not for the vigilant security operations by the Army and the STF, people would have faced another wave of bombings – next time on temples throughout the country. This was confirmed by the number of white dresses and printed fabrics found in Sammanthurai Zahren Hashmi’s house. Hashmi masterminded the Easter Sunday attack. The next round of bombing might have been organised to take place during Vesak in May!
These radicals, both men and women, who are confirmed, now, as religious fanatics, had been brainwashed, no doubt, in the belief that by killing another human being, for the sake of ‘their’ religion, they would end up in Heaven, straightaway as martyrs!
Islam religion
Islam religion teaches about the existence of only one God (Allah in Arabic), and Prophet Mohamed as the messenger of God, akin to Jesus Christ in Christianity. Islam is the second-largest religion in the world, with 1.8 billion followers or 24 per cent of the world population, spread across fifty countries.
Islam teaches that God Almighty is Merciful and Unique. Scriptures of Islam in the Quran is regarded, by Muslim devotees, as ‘the verbatim of God’. Like in any other Abrahamic religion, such as Judaism or Christianity, Islam teaches about the final judgment of an individual to be decided by Allah at the time of death, and one’s fate is dependent upon how virtuous one has lived his life on earth! Finally, when the call arrives from above, those righteous souls are naturally allowed to enter through the portals of Heaven or the ultimate abode of tranquillity, while the sinful and evil get punished in Hell, suffering eternally through Hell fires! In such a backdrop, would it not be a simple equation to solve for any pious Islamic individual in concluding whether those murderers of hundreds of people and committing suicide by blowing themselves up into smithereens will end up in Heaven or Hell ! But, sadly, it will be too late for the martyrs to realise their folly on earth!

The author of the above-mentioned (anonymous) email talks about a German friend who belonged to the German Aristocracy prior to the World War 2. Apparently, he had been the owner of a number of sizeable industries and estates in Germany. When enquired from him about the number of Germans who were true Nazis, his answer had been “only a very few people were true Nazis, but many enjoyed the return of German pride secretly, and many more were too busy to care! ”
The German had admitted that he belonged to the category of those who “just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools”. Likewise, the majority just sat back and let it all happen! Then, before they could say Jack Robinson, they had lost control, and the ‘end of the world’ for them had dawned. So, the German’s family lost everything, and he himself ended up in a concentration camp, while the allies destroyed his factories.
Moral of the story
The moral behind the above story is to convey a strong message to the world, as well as to Sri Lanka’s peaceful Muslims, particularly, at this crucial moment, is that ‘experts’ and ‘talking heads’ keep on repeating over and over again that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace.
Although this unquantified declaration may be true, it appears to be irrelevant from the type of events that are taking place in Sri Lanka since the Easter Sunday suicide bombings, and with what the Army and STF officers have unearthed so far and continue to do so. So, one sensible question Sri Lankan society needs to raise in the present context is whether religious terrorism is gradually spreading its mushrooming effect across the country? As the German thought of, and ignored about Nazis!
It also makes one wonder whether such an unquantified assertion is a meaningless cock-up meant to make the society feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam? The basic fact boils down to nothing but the mentally deranged crusaders’ Wahabism rule of ‘Islam’, at this moment in history, generating from Saudi Arabia.
‘Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists, were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. China’s huge population was peaceful, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people. The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a war mongering sadist, yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia, in an orgy of systematic killing of 12 million Chinese civilians- most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet! Who can forget Rwanda that collapsed into butchery? Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were “peace loving’!
The cranks will parade in marches and protests; zealots wage shooting worldwide; militants systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa; radicals deface and destroy Buddha statues in Sri Lanka and in other Buddhist countries; diehards keep on bombing, beheading and murdering. The fanatics take over mosque after mosque; extremists zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals, and in doing so militants are seemingly taking over the entire world in a ‘Religious Islamic’ wave! Therefore, the hard-quantifiable fact appears to be that the “peaceful majority” has currently become the “silent majority”, and become intimidated and superfluous.
Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Bosnians, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, Sri Lankans and many others, have died because the peaceful majority failed to speak up until it was too late.
Lessons of history are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our human powers of reason, people often miss the most basic and down-to-earth points. Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by the fanatics. Peace-loving Muslims have been made inappropriate by their silence.
Peace-loving Muslims will become others’ enemy if they themselves don’t speak up at this hour of need. Just like the German’s experience mentioned above, peaceful Muslim community will awake up one morning and find that radicals own them, and the end of their world too had begun.
